Dr. Martha Myers GA Alumna of Distinction Award

In 2004, the Children’s Resource Team at WMU presented the first Dr. Martha Myers GA Alumna of Distinction Award. Since then, this honor has been presented each year at the WMU Annual Missions Celebration. The recipients are ordinary women who influence the lives of others toward following Christ, and whose lives serve as a positive role models for girls. Women are selected on the basis of their missional lifestyle and their involvement in GA.

The award is named in memory of Dr. Martha Myers, who was a missionary to Yemen. “Dr. Martha,” as her friends called her, received her call to missions as a GA. She followed God’s call to the missions field and served in Yemen. While on the field, she worked beyond the bounds of Christian service. She was determined to give the people of Yemen a better life. She demonstrated Christ through her love and care for the Yemeni people. We are grateful to the Myers family for allowing us to honor Dr. Martha in this way. The church of Jesus Christ is growing in Yemen today because of her life and sacrifice.
